Show Pioneer Trails Picture CoUection Hung At College During Exhibit Pictures Brought From IYU During the Past Week 15y Dixie Professors; Valuable Valu-able Picture Given D.IC. The Pioneer Trails Art exhibit of 75 pictures was hung in the Dixie junior college auditorium on Monday, November 16 as an official opening of the Fine Arts Festival and exhibit. This exhibit ex-hibit will be enlarged by the end of the week by addition of the Utah Federal Arts exhibit and a number cf other pictures from Western and Eastern artists. This will comprise the largest exhibit ex-hibit of pictorial art ever shown in this section of the state. The exhibit is under the direction of Ralph Huntsman, art teacher, and the Beaux Art Guild. The pictures .were brought from Brigham Young university during dur-ing the past week-end by Dr. D. Elden Beck and P. D. Spilsbury. They have been on exhibit there for quite some time. A special invitation is extended to any club or organization or group of people who wish to visit this exhibit to do so and they will be furnished a guide to take them through and explain the pictures. The exhibit will be up until December 5, when the exhibit ex-hibit and Festival officially close. The Dixie junior college was recently presented w i t h "The East Bench" a picture by Gordon Cope, well-known Utah artist. The presentation was made 'by the Utah Federal Arts exhibit and the conditions under which the picture was presented was that the picture was to remain in the possession of the college as long as there was college. The value placed upon the picture is $650. |
