Show VEYO CCC ENKOLLEE GUNS TECHNICAL POSITION AVITH FOREST SERVICE Mr. Fenton J. Christiansen, 27, an enrollee at the Veyo, CCC Camp, has been promoted to the position of Junior Assistant to Technican after successfully passing pas-sing a Civil Service examination, according to Blaine Betenson, Supervisor of the Dixie National Forest. The position to which Mr. Christiansen has been promoted pro-moted is one especially created to fit in with the educational program pro-gram followed out by the Forest Service, and is one which denotes considerable advancement and ability on the part of any enrollee who attains the same. Mr. Christiansen, who for the past six montss has been a member mem-ber of the Veyo CCC Camp, and previously a member of the Duck Creek Camp, has made an enviable envi-able record for himself during his enrollment. Prior to his present pres-ent promotion, he had served as property custodian for the Forest Service at the Veyo Camp. Mr. Christiansen is a native of Mayfield, Utah. He enrolled with the CCC camps at the beginning of the Emergency Conservation Work program and has been with various camps for most of the time since that date. When he assumes his new position, he will be assigned to the LaSal National Forest with headquarters at M'oab, Utah. In making this announcement, it was stressed that Christiansen's success is an example of the educational edu-cational work being carried on in the CCC camps for the purpose of fitting the enrollees for better jobs, whether they be government jobs of commercial positions. The program of education is arranged arrang-ed in such a manner as to give the boys training while on the job and theoreatical classes during dur-ing the evenings. Those vocational voca-tional training courses include auto mechanics, tractor operation, carpentry, surveying, landscape engineering, powderman training, truck driving, grading, general forestry, and many ..other subjects. In this way the boys are better prepared to 'fit into regular work when they have completed their enrollment period, the jSupervisor said. |
