Show COUNTY AGENT'S MONTHLY REPORT by Walter . F. Smith Cattle Emergency lVoRram The Cattle Purchasing program continued until September IS, the closing date. The following follow-ing totals are for Kane and Washington counties: In Washington county: there were 552 contracts, 2,201 cattle accepted, 810 cattle condemned, the Benefit Payments were $1,-543.00, $1,-543.00, the Purchase Payments were $95,411.00, the total cattle purchased were 3,011, and the total money received was $110,-845.00. $110,-845.00. For Kane county there were: 142 contracts , 69 4 cattle accepted, accept-ed, 219 cattle condemned, the benefit payments were $4611.00, the purchase payments were $8,-160.00, $8,-160.00, total cattle purchased 913, and the total money received re-ceived was $12,771.00. Four-H Club Work Achievement day programs have been held in all the communities com-munities of Washington county, and the county Champion Exhibit Exhib-it took part in the State contest. con-test. At the completion of the year's 4-H club work the reports show the following: Twelve communities sponsoring sponsor-ing club work. Twelve foods clubs in six different dif-ferent communities: Ninty-nine girls entered; Eighty-three completed; com-pleted; fifteen leaders spent a total of 390 hours without pay; 800 new dishes prepared and recipes kept; 249 meals served; Sixty dozen quarts food canned. Seventeen clothing clubs in nine communities: 137 girls entered; en-tered; 116 girls completed; Twenty-four leaders spent 2S8 hours free of charge; 69 6 new articles; 1392 articles remodelled; remodel-led; 1611 articles mended. Eight forestry clubs in eight communities: 776 boys enrolled; Thirty completed; Eight leaders spent a total of 100 hours free. Sheep Emergency Program The sheep purchasing program began in Washington county on the fourteenth with Ward Es-plin Es-plin and Rudger C. Atkin, Sorters. Sor-ters. They began listing flocks of sheep and preparing for their purchase. On October 1 there was a total of: Number of farms selling ewes and does, fifteen; Total of sheep, goaits, lambs ' and kids on these farms .23.2R7. . . GOATS ( Angora) 1 Total number does one year old and over on farms .4,135; Total does (Angora) purchased 3,295; Total number does (angora) (an-gora) condemned 3,295. SHEEP Total number ewes one year old and over on farms 12,418; Total ewes purchased 1,887; Total To-tal ewes condemned 1,327. Coin-Hog Production Control The officers of the Corn-Hog production Control Association met 'on September 10 with W. W. Owens and appointed Walter Cannon as Field Supervisor. Mr. Cannon has inspected all the hogs and com acres in Washington county, under the contracts, and has issued -the second corn-hog checks. A meeting has been called for October 6 at which time all contract con-tract signers will vote on a continuance con-tinuance of the program. -Flood Control A meeting was called for the officers of all irrigation companies compan-ies on the Santa Clara creek on September 1. A committee was appointed to meet with the Forest For-est Service and flood control officers of-ficers in charge of CCC work, to make recommendations and assist In offering suggestions for flood control work on this area. Farm Credit The county agent attended a meeting at Cedar City at which local representatives of the Farm Credit Administration were present pre-sent to receive instructions and information relative to the Emergency Emer-gency Crop and Feed Loan, given by George S. Glenn, the Regional Manager. |
