Show Many Garden Insects That Have Real Value All garden Insects are not Injurious. Injuri-ous. In fact many of them are beneficial, bene-ficial, continually doing good by destroying de-stroying those species which are harmful. Foremost among the Insects In-sects that help the gardener are the different kinds of ladybird beetles. Both In their larval and adult stages, they feed almost exclusively exclusive-ly upon plant lice and scale Insects. Another kind of beetle, the Dory ground beetle, Is a particularly useful use-ful Insect. This beetle and its voracious vora-cious grub, which Is called the cutworm cut-worm lion, destroy enormous numbers num-bers of cut worms. The beetle Is brownish-black, with the wing-cases spotted with coppery red hence its name. The large harpulas beetle, which is very common, destroys cut worms. The different kinds of lace-wlng, lace-wlng, and other two and four-winged parasitic flies are also friends of the gardener. ? . |
