Show WOODWARD SCHOOL Miss Cox's Second Grade The second grade has been busy making a dairy. We have made a barn, a milk house and a chicken coop. WTe have planted plant-ed some wheat for a pasture for our cows. We have - named it the St. George Dairy. We have found out all we can about how the farmers take care of their milk to keep it clean for us to use and why boys and girls (should always drink milk. College Third Grade Friday we organized a new Reading circle and voted on new officers. Clark Hafen is president presi-dent and Colleen Allen is secretary. sec-retary. Last week we had a better spelling record and twenty-six of our pupils made a perfect record. Misa Sorenson's Fourth Grade In a review of the spelling words for the second month, the following pupils made a perfect per-fect score in Miss Sorenson's fourth grade: Audrey Morris, Lelarid Meech-am, Meech-am, Mary Judd, Betty Jo Morris, Jessfe Jane Gibbons, Dorothy Chadburn, Lois Canfield, Beulah Blake, Delia Madsen, Luen Atkin, At-kin, Clark Webb, Ralph Riding, Mary Harper. Miss Atkin's Fifth Grade Tuesday morning at eight o'clock T8 visited the Post Office. Of-fice. We watched Mr. Cannon put the letters through the can-cilation can-cilation machine. Afterwards we watched him sort the letters, tie them in different bundles, and put them in the mailsacks where they belong. Mr. Brooks was weighing parcels to see how much it would cost to send them. People have to pay more money when there mail is registered re-gistered but they are sure then that the person they are sending it to will get the parcel. We want to thank Mt. Brooks for letting us visit the Post Office. The following students of Miss Atkin's fifth grade had one nun- dred per cent in the month's spelling words: Wayne Horsely, Myrl Riding, Ferol Paxman, Fayone Seegmil-ler, Seegmil-ler, Joyce Wilkins, Dorothy Webb, Ralph Hafen, Lois Gardner, Gard-ner, Evelyn Nelson, Junior Cannon, Can-non, Marrola Jones, Howard Wlade, Melissa Whitehead, Mar-jorie Mar-jorie May, La Rita Olds, El My-rah My-rah L. Cox. Miss SeegmiUer's Fifth Grade We have organized our class into a city. We have a mayor, a recorder, a treasurer, five coun-cilmen, coun-cilmen, a reporter, a marshall, and a judge. The mayor is Marilyn Cox. The recorder and treasurer is Leo Syphus. The five councilmen are Uenora Hafen, Ha-fen, Caroline Cottam, Milton Schmutz, Elizabeth Woodbury, and Alpine Prince. Mr. Worthen came and talked talk-ed to our class and told us just how the city work was carried on. Our class had a spelling test on the month's words. There were twelve that had perfect scores. The girls were: Afton Leavitt, Marilyn Cox, Bonita Fawcett, Caroline Cottam, Helen Benson, and Dorothy Bastian. The boys were: Dwane Spills-hury, Spills-hury, Laraine Woodbury, Ed. R. Snow, Stafford Snow, Winsor DaltoriT Leo Syphusr and Milton Schmutz. Mr. Cannon's Sixth Grade This week we are going to make time lines and scrap books. They are going to be about history. We are starting with the prehistoric man. We are going to start on the first of November and study all our words, and at the end of the month we are going to have a spelling test. The ones who have perfect scores will have their names printed in the paper. We hope all of us will have perfect per-fect scores. Junior High Civics Club The civics club this week met with the city council and asked if they could have the streets closed during recess and we will appoint policemen and station sta-tion thefi on the college corner and both Woodward school corners, cor-ners, they will have red flags and the cars must not go by them or the car number will be taken and the city marshall will take care of them. The girls that met with the city council were: Dorothy Jean Coats, Edna Rae Gardner, and Maree Higbee. |
