Show VEYO CAMP The main body of men and the company headquarters of the 1928th Company, CCC, arrived at Veyo late last week to occupy Camp Veyo DF-31 for the winter. win-ter. Composed entirely of war veterans vet-erans from all parts of Utah, this organization has been located during the summer at Camp Ne-bo, Ne-bo, near Nephi, since July. Camp Veyo is commanded by Captain D. L. Harford, QM-Res., assisted by 1st Lt. H. E. Allen, Cav-Res., adjutant, and 1st Lt. H. Weatherman, Med-Res., camp surgeon. Lieutenant Allen and twenty-men, twenty-men, forming an advance detachment, detach-ment, have been at Veyo since August 23, engaged in supervising super-vising the construction of buildings build-ings at the camp site. Upon its arrival October 31, the company engaged in the removal re-moval of hundreds of tons of boulders from the area, and in otherwise beautifying the camp, as a result of which it already reveals re-veals a much improved and finished fin-ished appearance. An. entrance roadway into the camp has been built, affording more convenient access to the grounds, and walks and roadways are being laid out in a pleasing and symmetrica design. A rock garden is planned plan-ned as a base to the flag pole, and the camp sign-painter is preparing pre-paring necessary signboards. While considerable work will be required requir-ed to complete the camp, officers and. men are very much interested interest-ed in its possibilities. Several of the Forest Service foremen have reported and taken tak-en up quarters at the camp and are preparing plans and equipment equip-ment for the. forestry work projects pro-jects upon which the men . will be used. S. H.. Kunz, formerly with Panguitch Lake camp, will be Forestry iSuperintendant in charge of work projects. Several men have been occupied this week with the construction of a telephone line from Veyo to the camp. |
