Show WOODWARD SCHOOL NOTES Second Grade We have two pigeons and a turtle in our room. We have named the pigeons Alice and Polley and the turtle Peter. We have elected officers to feed and take care of them. Calvin Cottam brought a cotton cot-ton plant to school and we have been studying how our clothes are made from cotton. Fourth Grade Helen Harper, one of the girls 111 our room got permission for our grade to visit the beet seed cleaning factory. We learned that Europe used to furnish our country with beet seed, now we are raising our own. Her father showed us through the factory. He showed us how the seed was weighed, cleaned and sacked. A cupful was taken out of each sack to test. A few seeds are planted to find what per cent will grow. Third Grade Some of our boys had a very good time on Saturday. They went on the red hill with their primary class and had a weenie roast. We wish all of us might have been there. Dolph and some of his friends had an exciting experience on Saturday. They tried to rob a bee's nest. The bees became angry an-gry and stung them. Walter is very happy this morning. His daddy brought iiim some big marbles and a freight truck from Salt Lake City. Walter's Walt-er's Daddy has been to Salt Lake for conference. Walter brought a cotton plant to school last Friday. Fri-day. We learned how it grew. This morning one of the cotton balls is beginning to burst. Lois had a good time riding a horse yesterday. She is a good rider because she didn't' fall off once. We are making health posters in our health class. They help us to be clean and healthy child ren. Fourth Grade The boys and girls in Miss Sorenson's fourth grade are beginning be-ginning their study of Utah. They are very interested in the stories of the early Pioneers and Indians. As they progress in the study they are going to make a class book called our Utah Scrap-book. Scrap-book. Third Grade The college third grade inve a. daily newspaper, in i; they tell of the interesting things that happen to the people in the room. We have started our Indian woik and Denzil Ligh trier has made a very ?ood wigwam. |
