Show UTAH CATTLEMEN TO TAKE INTERESTING TRIP Utah cattlemen traveling to I Hayden, Colorado, on July 8 and 'gathering at the Dawson ranch just east of Hayden will see on Tuesday, July 9, one of the most unique examples of control breeding breed-ing in the country. There, Far-rington Far-rington R. Carpenter's purebred herd consisting of several hundred head of registered beef cattle will be held in pasture near the home ranch. One of the principal expense items to the western cattle grower grow-er has beentlie cost of good purebred pure-bred bulls, while, in addition, adverse ad-verse range conditions require the use of a proportionately large number of bulls. Any practical scheme or adaptation of a scheme i for control breeding that will cut the number of bulls needed to a third or less of present numbers should be of interest to western range cattle gorwers. High per-: per-: centage calf crops and uniform I age and size of calves are also ' important economy moves. Carpenter, present director of grazing for the Taylor Bill, formerly for-merly District Attorney for Routt County and prominent western cattle grower, has worked out just such a scheme and has extended a cordial invitation to all Utah cattle business to gather with him at his ranch on July 9 to observe the program in operation. While county delegations will be led by county agricultural agents, the invitation is extended to all others who desire to make the trip. On account of the distance there will be no effort made to go in one single group, but instead, those attending will plan to meet at Hayden on the evening of July 8 and win itk; equipment 1 the meeting I,'8 10:30 a.m " JU,y 9 at the IS uaed just - cl-- Dean E. j g Char6e W afiai C. |
