Show MRS. E. T. PLOllAN DIES ATSMITriFiaO Was One of Fipst White Children Barn in St. George Valley. Mrs. Elizabeth T. Plowman, daughter cf Robert and Elizabeth Hiliyard Thompson, members of the original pioneer company to' arrive in St. George, and one of the first white children born here, died Saturday at her home in Smithfieid, Utah. She was born in a wagon box here on March 13, 1862. John Pymm, a son of John and Agnes Pymm, was born on the Black ridge between here and Middleten as the company was entering the valley. George M. Cannon, now of Salt Lake City, a son of Angus Cannon, was the first white child to be born in the valley, and Mary Ellen Tarry, a daughter of Edwin S. Parry, was the first girl born here. Mrs. Plowman Plow-man was probably the next child born in St. George. She was married November 7. 1850 to Louis J. Plowman, and has spent the greater part of her life in northern Utah. All her life she has been active in church affairs, af-fairs, particularly in the Primary and Relief Society. She is survived by four children. Louis R., Irvin, Mrs. Austin Pitcher Pitch-er and Mrs. Lamont Harris, all of Smithfieid, and the following brothers bro-thers and sisters: Heber J. Thompson Thomp-son of Neeley, Idaho, Alma Raymond Ray-mond and Mrs. C. J. Plowman ol Smith field. |
