Show FIGHTS PROMISE PLENTY JIF Ml Well Known Pugs of Utah and Nevada Will Mix During Winter Carnival. The best fighters to be found in Utah and Nevada will be on the card here December 29, 30 and 31, during the mid-winter carnival. Among the more prominent prom-inent are Red Balle who appeared ap-peared here two years ago, who is now teaching school at Aurora, Au-rora, Utah. Red is a mixer from the word go, and has won his last four starts via the knockout knock-out route. He has been signed up for three bouts. Art Palmer, one of the best known men in Salt aLke, is another an-other who will be seen here. Palmer is fighting headliners in Salt Lake City and is considered one of the best of his weight in the game. It is probable that he will meet Ar Spilsbury of Cedar City and negotiations are now under, way with the latter for a match. Another topnotcher who will be seen in action is Buttling Shaw of Canada. Shaw came to St. George Sunday en route to the coast after a successful suc-cessful campaign in the ea :t and will remain over until the fights. He will probably go with Palmer Pal-mer or Spilsbury if the latter match can be arranged. He is working out daily with local fighters. Smith has fought for several years in Vegas and is rated one of the best drawing cards in Nevada. Art Smertz, a wrestler of Salt Lake, will be here, and it is probable a wrestling match will headline the bouts on one of the nights. In addition to the above named nam-ed men, all the local fighters will be used in preliminaries and semi-windups. These include Clarence Baker who will likely be billed with Earl Davenport of Panguitch; Sam Pugh who has won his last several starts, Cal Andrus, and men' from Mes-quite Mes-quite and Bunkerville who contributed con-tributed so much to the success of the last card put on here by the Legion. Bert Hunt, a brother of Milt Hunt, who fought here on the last card is being lined up for a go with Ealle in one of the headliners. Hunt, IS years old, is guard on the East Salt Lake football team and is consider-ered consider-ered one of the best high school athletes in the state. He weighs 175 pounds and has fought several times in McCul-lough's McCul-lough's in Salt Lake. |
