W Utah and northern Ari-, Ari-, ' Z0Ia, in which prospecting has 1 been carried on for the past 2 0 ' : years or more, is a proven pro-' pro-' ducer, according to the best in- I formation obtainable from rell-i rell-i 2ble though unofficial sources, : as to the result of development ' I of the Bloomington dome. ; While no official public state-; state-; meat has been given out by the Escalaate Explorations, whose test well is said to be a pro-i pro-i ' ducer, or by officers of the 3 Washington County Oil Devel-l Devel-l opment Company, a local -corporation, information which is con-i con-i sidered absolutely reliable, has ; been received in St. George from I the Montreal, Canada, offices of I the Escalante company to this ; effect. r I The leak developed last Sat-e Sat-e ; urday when it was learned lo-j lo-j tally that a copy of a telegram I i purported to have been sent to " : company headquarters at Mon-; Mon-; treal by a representative here bad been sent to the Wash-; Wash-; ington County Oil ' Develop-! Develop-! ment company. In the telegram : It v',as stated that the drill was in oil sand, free from water, ; with a good showing of gas, and as a producer. Until official announcement is made by the company nothing 'definite as to their future plans ill be be known or as to the production to be expected. For some time past it has been generally gen-erally expected that important developments would take place at any time at the Escalante well. Between the holdings of the Escalante on the west and the Virgin Dome on the east, which Is also reliably reported to e in oil sands, lies the Punch Bowl dome structure belonging be-longing to the Arrowhead Petrol turn Corporation. This well has teen drilled to an approximate depth of 1500 feet. Although they have not yet gone to suf-Iticnt suf-Iticnt depth to reach oil sands, 'bey have encountered extrenie-'r extrenie-'r large showings of live oil and kavy gas pressure at various depths, which assure an early br'nsmg in of a commercial well.
