Show CELEBRATION MAY 23 AT ST. THOMAS, OPENING NEW ROAD A big celebration is being planned to commemorate the opening of the new j-oad from Los Vegas, to the Arizona state line at St. Thomas, Nevada, Nev-ada, on May 23. The new road, part ofthe Arrowhead trail, willsave about 20 miles over the old road between here and Los Angeles and is said to be a fine piece of work. The celebration celebra-tion is also intended to commemorate the discovery of the "Lost City" near St. Thomas. Governor J. G. Scrugham of Nevada Nev-ada has requested Prof. E. H. East-mond East-mond of the B. Y. U. to direct a pageant pag-eant at St. Thomas on this occasion. In extending the invitation Governor Scraugham says in part. "One, of the main features will portray the coming of the Mormon pioneers into the Muddy Valley. I write to inquire if you can assist us in the matter to the extent of taking complete charge of this act. You will have the co-operation of the principals of the various schools of the vicinity, including J. Lawrence Wadsworth of Overton, and J. M Whiting of Bunkerville." Prof. Eastmond has since been given giv-en the direction not only of that portion por-tion of the pageant dealing with the Mormon pioneers, but with the production pro-duction of the entire pageant. |
