The regular meeting of the Daughters- of the' Utah Pioneers was held in ithe tabernacle last Sunday with the program being given by the Lyman Canfieid family. fam-ily. President Gertrude Cottam presided, pre-sided, with Vice-President Josephine Jose-phine B. Pace conducting. The j opening song, "Kind Words," was sung by the congregation. iOpening prayer was by MHir-dell MHir-dell Earl, a grandson, and a hi3-; hi3-; tory of the life of Lyman Can-field Can-field was given by Mjss M'attie Earl, a grand-daughter. Mrs. Don A. Lightner, a daughter daugh-ter of Lyman and Annie Elizabeth Eliza-beth Laub Canfieid, gave a history his-tory of her mother's life. ! A sketch of the silk and cotton industry in the early days of St. George was given by Mrs. Lenora Worthc-n, and Mrs. Cottam and Mrs. Lizzie Priding also told of their experiences in the silk in-d in-d u stry . "Parting Hymn" was sung by the congregation, and the closing prayer was by a grandson, Evan Earl. |
