In keeping with a suggestion sug-gestion from the state superintendent superin-tendent of public instruction, it was decided not ;o send out teacher teach-er contracts the first of Apiil, but "to hold them up until May 1. The reason for this is to give the board more time to determine possible pos-sible revenue for the coming school year and be able to adjust the teachers' salaries in keeping w-ith the finances available. A communication from the Utah Taxpayers' Association, rec-, rec-, omraending ways and means of making modifications and adjustments ad-justments in the school system was carefully studied. A. .tudy of the biennial report of the state superintendent gave Washington county a ranking of 38 out of forty districts in tetsi. per capita cost for the year 1931-32, 1931-32, based on school population, and a ranking of 3 9 based on average av-erage daily attendance. This means that in the first case, only two counties, Wayne and San Juan, ran their schools on less cost per student than did this county. In the latter case only Wayne ranked rank-ed below Washington county. The superintendent was instructed in-structed to have plans and specifications speci-fications drawn for a schoolhouse at llockville. This building is to be erected by the people of that i.oin.iii.imi''' ' fund from the school district to be paiuc- period of ten years. v" The question of a .school at Ivins was again presented by a representative group of citizens Although thoy were given a respectful re-spectful hearing, Uvcy were told that tho problem would bo continued con-tinued for a further hearinc in the session on April 2 4. |
