Show ST. GEORGE PIONEER DIES AT HOME IN PRICE Mrs. Ella Coombs Branch, 71, Utah pioneer of 1860, died at her home in Price last Thursday of old age. Mrs. Branch was born at San Bernardino, Ber-nardino, Calif., March 27, 1857, a daughter of Abraham and Olive Curtis Cur-tis Coombs, who were passengers on the famous voyage around the Horn in 1846 on the sailing ship Brooklyn. The family came to Utah in the Ephraim Hanks company in 1860, her father dying several days after their arrival at Beaver and three years later in Cedar City her mother died. She was reared by Richard R. Birk-beck Birk-beck of Salt Lake. She married William Wil-liam H. Branch of Salt Lake in 1874 and they moved to St. George, where they remained until 1880 when they moved to Mesquite, Nev., thence to Price in 1884. Mr. Branch died in 1889, leaving her with six minor children. |
