Show " Am Useless" Nothing is so sad as the cry, "I am useless." And happily, none of us need ever be. No matter how humble one's station sta-tion in life may be, the person is rare whom some one does not look up to and take, more or less as an example, and wdiose Influence, therefore, Is not worth something. There is no one, Indeed, who comes in contact with others who cannot leave his or her mark In some good influence or contribution. con-tribution. A kind word, a generous act, an encouraging smile, a bit of self-restraintthese are jewels all of us are rich enough to scatter every day of our lives, and which while enriching and gladdening others will not diminish dimin-ish our own store, but will, in fact, Increase In-crease our portion of happiness. The finer, nobler aspects of dally life are not necessarily of a spectacular spectacu-lar nature. Greatness in largest measure meas-ure is displayed, not in famed feats of historic valor, but in ordinary, common com-mon every-day existence. There Is the strength of patience, the nobility of forgiveness, the courage cour-age of faith in the face of disappointment, disappoint-ment, the heroism of sustained good spirits when all about Is dark, the service of instilling cheerfulness, peace and good-will in the hearts of others. There is none of us so humble that I we cannot in some measure play the part of a sower. The Talmud says: "Happy are those who have many around them, for they are rich in op-I op-I portunities and may sow plenteously" j The woman should read that who says: "My family is grown and can get along without me; I am useless" |
