Show SAYS GOVERNMENT CAN BEST HANDLE RANGE PROBLEM NEPHI, Nov. 30 Wm. Bailey, ex-president ex-president of the National Tax Association, Asso-ciation, in an article in the December De-cember number of The Tax Digest, official publication of the California Califor-nia Taxpayers' Association, states that the public domain can be made to yield an income and that greater use of the grazing land is possible. Mr. Bailey says: "The public range should be put under control. Graziers Graz-iers should be protected against themselves. They should not be permitted per-mitted to ruin the range permanently by over-grazing or by careless use of the domain. There are those who advocate the turning of these lands over to the respective states in which they are located. Others hold that they can only be handled successfully suc-cessfully by the government. "Imaginary state lines would hinder, hin-der, if not thwart, the whole object. ob-ject. Large development programs must be outlined, reaching over a period of years. It is a well known fact that there must be watering places established so as to better distribute dis-tribute the grazing at certain seasons sea-sons of the year. This gigantic undertaking un-dertaking can best be handled by the government." |
