Show CAMPAIGN OPENED FDR CONVENTION ; Attractions of Southern Utah I j Pointed Out to Members j of Organization In Letters ! Sent to Posts of the State The campaign to secure foi' St. George the 1932 state convention con-vention of the American Legion, the Ladies' Auxiliary and the Forty 'n Eight, was opened this week with the sending to the various posts of Utah a letter outlining the attractions in this-part this-part of the state, listing the town's accommodations and asking ask-ing the Legionnaires' support at the convention in Park City in August. The text of the letter follows: "St. George delegates to the Park City convention in August will make a bid for the 1932 de- ' partmont convention, and ask that your delegates consider the applications of the various towns seeking the convention, on their merits. It has been many years since this annual event was held in southern Utah, and we believe be-lieve that it is appropriate at this time that it be brought to this part of the state. "A survey of hotel and cafe accommodations made by a committee com-mittee of our post discloses the fact that St. George is well able to care for the delegates, their families and friends. We have j three first-class hotels, several ; modern campgrounds and cafes. I Living expenses are moderate, and we can assure you there will be no skyrocketing of prices during the convention if it is held here. "St. George is in the heart of the scenic west, the gateway to the entire park area of southern Utah and northern Arizona. Perfect Per-fect oil-surfaced highways lead to these attractions, and a one-day one-day trip around this loop will j reveal to the vacationist some j of the most beautiful scenery in I the world. "The Dixie climate in early September Sep-tember is ideal the days warm and clear, the nights cool and invigorating. The people here are hospitable, and we can guarantee that if successful in securing the convention, St. George will show the delegates one of the best ( times they have ever had. I "Your support will be appreciated." appre-ciated." , |
