Show STATE ASKS BiD! Ori ST. GEORGE S. C. IhW Will Be Opened by State Road Commission at Two o'Clock P. IU. Monday, March 28, for 10 Miles Bids for the construction of the stretch of U. S. 91 from St. George to the Shevwits Indian In-dian reservation will be awarded award-ed by the state road commission at 2 o'clock p. m., Monday, Mar. 2Sth. The notice to contractors calls for a gravel surface road to be known as federal aid project proj-ect No. SO-D, for a distance of 10.451 miles. The principal items Qf work as listed in the call for bids are approximately as follows: Ninety-two thousand cubic yards of unclassified excavation; 31,700 cubic yards of gravel surface and sub-base, loading, and 52 7 cubic yards of reinforced reinforc-ed concrete for structures. The road will follow a new alignment from Main street in St. George to Santa Clara. The route goes due west to the hill following West First North street, then swings north along the base of the Black hill to the point, from where it follows a straight-away to a point on the present highway near the checking station at Santa Clara. This will be entirely new construction. con-struction. From Santa Clara to the Indian In-dian farm the road will be re-graded re-graded and graveled in preparation prepara-tion for oiling. The entire stretch will be oiled when the present contract is completed. The notice to contractors appears ap-pears in this issue of the News. |
