than 15 minutes the stage came by The Indians came out of the brush They shot the lead horse and it fell feU to the ground It broke away from the others The coach tipped over Bill shot the head Indian and the rest went They tried standing the coach up but it was too heavy So they walked back to town with the money MY SQUIRRELS By Clifton Roper I have three little squirrels I feed them every day We him out all there was was an anice anice ice cube with Junior inside THE SMALLEST ELEPHANT By Shanna Vernon Once there was a little ele ele- elephant His name was Tiny He was about two feet tall All the other elephants teased him all the time One day Tiny decided to torun torun run away While the others were eating he sneaked out lIe He ran deep into the jungle Finally he came to the sea There was a ship loading Tiny sneaked aboard the ship lIe hid in some bananas Soon he became hungry so he decided to get out and look around He saw a big bale of hay He went over and ate It Just them them he saw an open door He went through it He came to a room There was screeching and squealing It was was just like monkeys in inthe inthe the jungle Tiny pushed open the door And there to his de- de delight de delight light were monkeys All of 01 a sudden Tiny saw a baby monkey in a corner He was afraid Tiny knew that little monkey They were the best of friends Tiny saw an open window The ship hadn't pulled away yet Tiny took the little monkey and pushed him out the window And the monkey got away In a few minutes the ship pulled away Tiny couldn't get out of the monkey room for someone had locked the thedoor thedoor door The next morning the ship reached the city The man who wh owned the monkeys came to get them Tiny hid in a big box The Theman Theman man counted the monkeys One is missing he said He started to look Before long he found Tiny He almost fainted He called to the cap cap- captain taro tain of the ship My baby monkey has turned into an elephant Well he took them to i J TROT AND DILL BILL By Deborah Hatch Trot was sitting beside I Bill DUl on a hill looking I at the ocean Trot said Why cant can't we go riding in the boat now I All right said Bill DUl I So they got into the boat I Pretty soon Trot said What is that whirling thing I Bill I Looks like a mighty whirl pool Trot and with that he grabbed the oars and began rowing Then Trot said Its coming closer to us No it isn't Trot were we're coming closer to it Then down they went into the whirlpool Plop They landed on some sand in a hole Trot was soaked clear through so was Dill Bill And they were coughing and choking from the water that they had swallowed How much food do we have asked Trot Five sea biscuits and a lump of cheese Ohl Oh said Trot Just then a funny looking animal appeared before them It said it was an ork But they made friends with him And he carried them out of the hole onto a beautiful island There they saw a house and knocked on the door A little bumpy man opened it and let them in In the morning they woke up and it was snowing but it wasn't snow snow- snowing tag ing real snow it was snowing popcorn So they went outside and started eating the island snow Now Trot was thirsty so he asked the bumpy man manfor for lor some water Water what's that I can given you some fresh fresh orange Juice I caught last time it rained Ok said Trot And they lived there ever after THE ATTACK OF INDIANS By Randy D Beers One morning in 1858 in Laramie the stagecoach was just leaving It was going to Cheyenne In the middle of the Cheyenne Indian country the Indians started coming from from all sides An Indian shot the lead horse The man who rode shotgun got shot and was bleeding badly Just them the Cavalry came from all sides In an hour or so the Indians were all dead The Cavalry rode the rest of the way to town to tomake tomake make sure that the rest of the Cheyenne wouldn't attack again THE ELEPHANT CIRCUS Marlene Smith One day in the town called Faraway there OF THE WORLD Grade Room 14 In Mrs Powers fourth grade we are having a unit in science called Climates There me are many interesting things in this unit The world is divided into five climate zones North Frigid Zone North Temper Temper- ate Zone Torrid Zone South I Temperate Zone and South frigid Zone We have just finished stu stu- studying dying about the North Frigid Zone In the far north winters are long and summers are arehart hort hart People dress in skins of the animals they kill to seep warm Their food is meat because it is too old cold for vegetables to grow The Eskimos kill
