Show DUP Camp resume meetings Daughters of Utah Pioneers Camp held their first meeting of the year on Friday Sept 3 at the home of Marie Lee The meeting was conducted by the new captain Paula Wright and the song Long Long Ago was led by Sharon Evertsen The prayer was given by Eva Hatch and Lila Robins led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag Secretary Dorothy Hemn Hein read the minutes conducted roll call and col- col collected collected dues from the members A pioneer history was given by Sharon Evertsen about her husbands husband's great grandmother Julia Ann Ivens McDonald Pace who endured many hardships and yet reared a good family and studied at Ann Arbor Mich to get gether gether her medical training a doc doc- doctor doctor tor practicing in St St George in the late Lesson Leader Lola Allred discussed happenings of oC years ago in The Year 1882 including new Utah set set- settlements settlements railroad news government changes fires flooding and even daily items of interest such as a stage coach robbery and the sale of hay at 14 per ton and potatoes at 40 cents per bushel She also gave each member a booklet she had prepared listing interesting events of 1882 Refreshments were then served by bythe bythe the hostess Marie Lee assisted by Lola Allred Maureen Freestone and Lila Robins |
