Show Ballard grants licenses to two new businesses Ballard Town Council and Ballard Vater Water Improvement District meetings were held Oct 12 at the Ballard City Building Members present were Verden Heaton mayor Robert Abercrombie Karl Betts Gary Bolton Keith Haslem Shar Lynn Benson secretary A request by Fred Huntington to sell mini bottles at the Best Western Restaurant was discussed by the coon coun cil Robert Abercrombie i made the motion that the Best Western Restaurant be given givena a license to sell mini bottles as provid provid- provided ed by the Utah State Liquor laws and also ordinances to be written by the Town of Ballard Gary Bolton seconded the mo- mo motion motion tion Karl Betts opposed Keith Haslem was not present at the time of voting The council in a meeting Tuesday Oct 9 4 decided to permit the restaurant to sell liquor and wine but beer will not be sold Council members discussed what the charge for the business license for the motel restaurant liquor license and ser ser ser- service vice station should be and decided that for the remainder of the year 75 would be sufficient but that the license would be reviewed at the beginning of the corn com corning ing year An application for a business license for the Basin Livestock Market was presented to the council Abercrom- Abercrom Abercrombie Abercrombie bie made the motion that a business license be granted Betts seconded the motion and it passed unanimously Claude has leased the Amoco Service in Ballard and the license had been paid for fora a full year and th the council decided to require that a license not be purchased until Jan 1 The town council asked that the Board of Health check the septic systems of Maurine Hobbs and Clarence Rich to see seeto seeto to it they meet the approval of the Board of Health Both systems were checked and the Board of Health gave their ap- ap approval approval on both systems Forming a Ballard Chamber of Com Com- Commerce Commerce merce was discussed and Shar Lynn Ben Ben- Benson Benson son was asked to contact the Utah League of Cities and Towns for charter and regulations on forming such an organization Mayor Heaton showed the council a picture which he received from Utah Communities Progress of Haslem and Bension with Governor Scott Matheson receiving the Community Progress award Sept 16 in Salt Lake City The Council felt the picture should be enlarged enlarged ed and hung In the city office The council discussed that people should Proposition be encouraged to vote for Proposition tion No 1 on Nov 2 which entitles one taxing entity to tax another They also encouraged people who have not registered to vot vote to register Members present at the Ballard Ward Improvement District meeting Oct 12 were Karl president Verden Heaton and Charles Miller Also present was Keith Haslem discussed the leak at the water retention station last week He said that Richard Fausett had been called to make the repairs but by the time he had got got- gotten gotten ten there Zane May Asay had it repaired Shar Lynn Benson was asked to contact Horrocks Engineers Engineers to see when they would have the preliminary study com com- complete complete for Cor the sewer system in Ballard so that Ballard can submit an application for grant money for Cor a sewer system Ballard would probably ask for in grant monies and in interest free loan monies The board asked that Shar Lynn Ben Ben- Benson Benson son take one day and go to Vernal and do research on Roosevelt's original ap- ap application application for putting sewer lines and lagoons in Uintah County so that Ballard can present a more accurate account of the happenings of the sewer system to the people |
