N L Larsen and several others debated with the county off officials officials of of- f on the possibility of being se set apart as a separate county JULY 31 1917 an election was held he d. d In the Daggett District there were 74 votes in favor of I separation and none against In InI I Uintah District there were I votes for separation and against On November 16 1917 governor acting-governor Hardin Bennion Ben- Ben nion in the absence of Governor Bamberger signed th the proclamation creating the new new county 4 A vote was made on the name of the new county and two propositions were set forth Finch County In honor of George Finch an early settler and Daggett County in honor of surveyor general Ellsworth Daggett who was prominent in surveying the area The latter name won over by one vote and Daggett County was created December 24 1917 election of officers was held with the following persons being the first first elected for far the new county commissioners Marius Marius' N N.
