Show Driver Safety ty Contest Started Among Basin High Schools Last year the Utah Highway Patrol represented represented re re- presented by Trooper Ronald Wilson presented presented pre pre- a trophy to the senior class the class of 1911 1971 for having the best driving record at the Uintah High School AS A R RESULT T of last years year's project the State Troopers met with the driver education teachers from the three largest largest larg largo est sch schools in th the basin Uintah HigI High School was represented by G G. G Ray Hunsaker Hunsaker Hun Hun- saker Marland Stagg and Principal Lee R. R Pettey from Union School Mr Allred AUred and Principal Orvel Hullinger and Duchesne Duchesne Du Du- Du chesne was represented by Bennett Jos Jos- ie le From this meeting it was decided that a Safety Banner would be made and passed from school to school Trooper Wilson formulated a point system system tem tern where each violation of the law would carry a specific number of points against the school he or she is from It was decided that the school with the fewest fewest few few- est number of points assessed against them would be the school to fly the banner banner ban ban- ner for the following month ALL PHASES of the law enforcement agencies will be involved in this program This will include Tom Freestone with the Juvenile Court and the Justice of the Peace in each of the three communities The banner was made up and designed design ed by Mr Wilson Mr Hunsaker and Joe Nut Nuttall all an art student at Uintah High DUCHESNE High School has won the right to fly the banner for the month of October and was given the banner Monday To make this project fair to all schools the total points the school has obtained will willbe be divided by the total number of juniors and seniors of each school THE UTAH Highway Patrol will present present pre pre- sent at the end of the year a traveling trophy to the school who has the safety banner the most months during the school year |
