Show Basin Television Changes Route Of Relay Signals A new microwave system and buried burled cable installation is in progress at the Asphalt Ridge site of Basin Television Inc Inc cable distribution system A NEW 10 foot 10 foot microwave dish and instrument building has been installed at a new lot location on Asphalt Ridge just south of th the tha old facility The new site is higher and receives television signals for channels 2 4 and 5 from a different different dif dif- ferent improved route The television signals are beamed by microwave to the new site from a relay station on Bruins Bruin's s Peak north of Price The signal then is directed to a foot foot tower near Schofield which is in view of the large transmitter towers originating ing the Salt Lake City television signals signals sig sig- nals explained Vern Moore manager of the local cable television operation AT PRESENT the television signals have been relayed by a station located at the Farm Creek Pass This station has been troublesome because of its in in- and because it has to generate gen gen- crate erate its own power by a self self contain contain contained ed electric system It was completely destroyed by fire last year and had to tobe tobe tobe be rebuilt The new system will completely completely completely com com- abandon this location Also to insure better ca cable ble television reception in the area over 8 feet of buried cable is being installed from the the base of Asphalt Ridge to an amplifier near the residence of Orson Caldwell This special three three fourths fourths inch cable is buried 30 inches deep and will not be affected by climatic conditions or be subjected to damage by physical forces stated Mr Moore AT THE present time Basin Television has nearly 1000 on its 38 miles of trunk and feeder lines The system extends as far east cast as the Halliburton Halliburton Halli Halli- burton office and garage as far north as the former Leon Christensen home in Maeser and as far south as south Vernal City limits The system is owned by Community Tele Communications Tele Inc which own and operate 56 different community systems systems throughout th the western states |
