M Air Ainge ge Services Held In Jensen Ward JENSEN Funeral services were conducted Monday in the Jensen Ward Chapel for Charles Ainge 85 of Vernal who died Friday in the Uintah County Hospital The services were conducted by Dee Curfew a counselor in the Jensen Ward bishopric Mrs Boyd Snow played prelude pre lude lode and postlude music Percy Stewart gave the prayer at the mortuary THE OPENING song Unanswered Yet was sung by the Jensen Ward Singing Mothers accompanied by Mrs Snow Grant Ainge gave the prayer Speakers were Shirley Ainge and Art Boren Home on the Range was sung by Kathy Evans The closing song Prayer Perfect was also sung by th the Singing Mothers Marvin Peterson gave the closing prayer BURIAL WAS In the Jensen Cemetery Pallbearers were Ken Rich Reed Bodily Don Wall Rail Chew George Yeager and DeMarr Dudley Morgan Gardner dedi dedicated the grave Attending the services from out of town were the Harvey of Riverside California the Andy Palmdale Palmdale Palm Palm- dale California the Morgan Gardners Stanton California the Grant Meeker the Percy Stew Stewarts arts and Bill Arnold and son Larry Roosevelt ALSO THE Perry and Jim Purdy of Rangely the Jerry Hatches Batches Ballard the Andy Murrays Neola Heels the Lewis Littletons Ouray the Joe A. H Arnold all of Gusher the Shirley Salt Lake City Cheri Dickey Payson and Mrs Eddie EVans Dutch John Charles Meason Ainge was born November November November No No- vember 16 1883 in Spanish Fork to George and Polly Maston McKee Ainge Charles was the eleventh of 1 13 children 12 of whom grew to adulthood THE FAMILY moved to the Jensen area in November 1885 At that time Jensen was known as Riverdale The parents purchased a ranch on Green River which was known as the Ainge Ranch One of Charles' Charles uncles William Ainge was the first teacher of the Riverdale Ward lIe He taught school in the George Ainge home The next school that Charles Char les lea remembered was west of the Moroni Moon home He lIe often orten related how they walked from the Ainge Ranch to school HE WAS baptized by Doctor Hullinger in the Ashley Creek He often orten told how cold the water in the creek was at atthe the time of baptism His Isis brother Nile recalls that as a ayoung ayoung ayoung young man he worked for a time in the theold theold theold old Dragon Mines l However most of his work was herding cattle and ranching He lie also helped dig ditches for irrigation In ia Jensen and helped clear the sage sagebrush sagebrush sagebrush brush away HE WAS employed by the Snow brothers brothers bro bro- Albert and Hugh as a cowboy for several years He was considered a avery avery avery very reliable and dependable person and if he was told to do a job they knew that it would be done He herded for them on Blue Mountain summers and of jn the bad lands in winter He lIe was employed for Bill Johnson for about three years One summer Charles and Bill Dudley worked in the hay fields in Meeker on another job CHARLES WAS employed by KeithSmith Keith KeithSmith KeithSmith Smith In Linwood for five years His nephew Shirley recalls how he trapped during the time he was in Linwood Shirley and his brother George used to spend their vacations with him in his camp After leaving the Linwood area Charles Charles Char Char- les and his brother Joe moved to Castlerock Castle Castle- rock Washington where they purchased a ranch They cleared the land and farmed farmed farm farm- ed and Charles also worked In III the ship ship- yards This was during World War II AFTER JOE returned to Jensen because because because be be- cause of his health Charles sold the ranch and returned also After returning to Jensen he worked on the Howard Ainge ranch then for the Hoyle Robinsons Robin Robin- sons son After leaving the Robinsons he worked for a time in Roosevelt for the Percy Stewarts The last few years he has made his home in Vernal He I-he was a very very- independent independent inde inde- pendent person and was always honest and dependable HE IS survived by sisters Wilma Gilroy Gilroy Gil Gil- roy Vernal Mrs Harvey Ruby Neilson Neilson Neil Neil- son Riverside California a brother Nile of Jensen 17 nieces and 17 IT nephews nephews ne nee and great nieces and nephews |
