Show UHS PTA Dear Editor Mrs Hunting's letter appearing appearing appearing ap ap- ap- ap in Public Forum last week prompted me to submit an answer As usual we all see things in a different light which is usual usually y fortunate THE TIlE MEETING she refers to was one one of many I have attended attended attended at at- tended in the past 3 years concerning the problems at Uintah High School Three years ago the PI PTA A officers worked very hard u 11 bringing in bringing in Sp programs appealing t to p parents rents to to be become oi e interested in conditions ns at Uintah High School and to become involved After a full year we had 12 members Including including including in in- the 6 officers Parents didn't want to embarrass their children didn't have time didn't feel it was important when children are this age would woul t have come if they had just known the date and time etc We heard all excuses excuses For two years the PI PTA A has used every method they could think of to get feedback from parents Meetings were were held with Mr Allen with the purpose in mind of creating a better understanding between parents administration and teachers Mr Allen spent numerous numerous hours in these meetings We advertised over radio in the newspaper called people to invite them personally to the meetings Students teachers as well as as parents were invited Out of 50 invited personally by phone each meeting through a telephone committee plus the open in- in we were lucky to get 10 to the meetings THIS TIllS YEAR I gave up until spring There is no sense in flogging a dead horse We couldn't get the people out who were setting home gossiping about the mess umess they wouldn't come to the principal for individual meetings few teachers attended the meetings Where have these concerned parents been all this time Where were the concerned teachers And now that action has been taken by the Board of Education where is the thanks which they dont don't expect but which they have earned And the cooperation of these concerned concerned concerned con con- people If we could have had one half hall hallas as many parents to one of our PTA PIA meetings gs as were at that board meeting I would have been delirious progress could have been made and all this could have been avoided with us realizing some positive results by now We need you concerned parents in the PTA How lIow about it Contact me anytime The PTA PIA Uintah High School and the students could sure use some of you ou Jacklyn B B.
