Show M I t. t Z i Vick Vickie ie Duncan honored at shower Mrs Larry Vickie Duncan was honored with a post nuptial shower at the Manila Recreational Hall on December 7 Games were played with prizes going to Mrs Cloyd Reed Mrs Derl Deri Reed and Mrs Levi Reed Jr Following the games refreshments were served and Vickie and displayed her gifts Mrs Duncan is the former Vickie of Manila The young couple are making their home in Manila where Duncan is employed by Cloyd Reed of the Reed Mike Perry of the Vernal Field House was guest speaker at the Daggett County Historical Society December 4 in Dutch John Utah Conference Hall lIall Mr Perry spoke on Indian Culture of our area He showed slides of Indian Culture showing some of the sites including storage pits building ruins baskets writings etc Following his talk and slide presentation he showed some artifacts he had on display such as awls potter baskets Indian grain grinding stones throwing spear with thrower and figurines some pieces of arrows and hammers Scouts and Cub Scouts of both Manila and Dutch John attended Attending from Manila were Mrs John Tuft Den Mother Cub Scouts Glenn Ellsworth Randal Handal Despain also Starla Despain Scout Leader Neal Tuft with Scouts Neville Tuft Kelley Douglas and Kevin and Mr l and Mrs William Robinson Daggett School has prepared the skating pond to be filled with water for skating this winter It is deeper and looks like it will be much better than other years if they can get enough water to fill it A small amount of snow fell Friday and Saturday in Manila but was all gone Sunday Mr and Mrs Derwin Don Francom are parents of a boy born in Vernal Utah Doyle Slag who was hospitalized in Rock Springs at Thanksgiving time is home again Beth Twitchell daughter of Mr l and Mrs Burl Twitchell of Manila was home this week weekend weekend weekend end from Salt Sail Lake City where she is attending beauty school William Briggs Sr is in the hospital in Salt Sail Lake City Utah where he underwent surgery after the Thanksgiving holiday He is expected to be released soon The first Green River Wyoming Stake conference was held this week end in Green River Wyoming Many of the Manila LOS Ward members attended Argie Boren of Utah spent the Thanksgiving holiday with his parents Mr and Mrs Roy Boren in Manila TilE TIE MANILA Mustangs played at Bicknell Friday agai against t Wayne High School Mustangs played against a tough team probably the toughest so far this trus year They were big their center being 67 The Mustangs lost 58 to 31 High point man was Mark Redden with 12 points Rowdy Muir 7 Gary scored 6 Bob Travis 4 and Larry Hale and Danny Wilde 1 each The next night the Mustangs really made a comeback when playing Green River They didn't play too well the first half the score being 31 to 11 in favor of Green River The second half was ruled by the Mustangs who out scored Green River Ri 43 points to 24 The Mustangs played a hard second half and barely lost 55 to 54 54 High point man was Mark Redden with 16 points Devan Long scored 14 Gary 11 Bob Travis 8 Rowdy Muir 3 and Larry Hale 2 The Jr Varsity also just missed a victory with Green River winning 54 to 53 The Mustangs are playing Inthe in inthe inthe the Snake River Tournament this weekend in Baggs Wyoming Coach Harry Morrill feels it II the Mustangs can play playas as well the there re as they did against Green River they have a good chance of bringing home a trophy |
