Show County budget buge he hearing o on salary increases draws h ire Uintah County Commissioners met charges of not providing enough detailed information on how the 1975 budget is to be spent and of not telling exactly how much Increase increase increase in in- crease in salaries and wages are proposed at the annual budget hearing held Monday About six persons spent two hours discussing the proposed tentative 1975 county budget with the County Commissioners UINTAH COUNTY has been undergoing a salary study by bythe bythe bythe the State Association of Governments under the direction of Jack Tanner for several months because of the high turnover among skilled county employees It was the recommendation of the state slate association that the county s salary lary scale be raised The commissioners have recommended that they go on ona ona ona a time full-time basis instead of part time lime and raise their salaries from the present per year to Also all elected officials officials of of- with the exception of the surveyor were recommended to tobe tobe tobe be raised from their present salary to per year The surveyor chose to be paid for forthe forthe forthe the services he rendered instead of a salary COUNTY CLERK Morris R R. R Cook explained to those present at the budget hearing Uintah County expects expect to collect about as its it share of property taxation t. during the next year the remainder of the proposed will come from other revenue approximately as follows revenue sharing mineral leases class B Broads roads state slate sales tax fees businesses licenses and services fines and forfeitures liquor control The county also has about from the surplus funds from last year which includes sinking funds and reserves The assessed valuation for forthe forthe forthe the county this year is up from last year The valuation is about equally divided between locally assessed real properties and state assessed d mineral utility and industrial properties Each pays about 1214 1212 percent of the total county budget Mr Cook pointed out THE Tm COUNTY mill levy which is set every August was reduced from 98 mills to 97 this year This brings in about in revenue to the county After making a motion to publish the wage schedule and then holding another hearing by a group of four persons the budget budget- hearing adjourned to tomake tomake tomake make further studies The budget will be held open until the December 15 deadline at which time it must be approved by the Commissioners |
