Show l I In Appreciation Dear Friends of Vernal Uintah Basin Rangely Colorado and all surrounding areas It is with heavy hearts that we the Nickell family Camily try at this time to convey to you dear people the feelIngs feel feel- Ings we have in our hearts for you We are experiencing a time of grief grieC and sorrow that we sometimes feel we cannot bear but must somehow find tind the strength to endure The loss of oC our beloved Greg was a shock that has torn our hearts made our eyes weep and brought discouragement discouragement discouragement dis dis- despair and unhappiness Into our lives Greg had recently returned home from Germany after aler serving his country for Cor nearly four years lie He loved his country and we are arc proud that he had enlisted in the Army and volunteered for Cor Viet Nam duty dufy While serving in Viet Nam Greg had an attack of kidney stones and later during the of Cambodia a serious case of Jungle Rot lie was with the Infantry Infantry In In- fantry the first to enter Cambodia and he later told us a little about it lie said that for 47 days clays they dared not take off their boots and how serious his condition had become from lack of medical treatment lie was told he could not be spared long enough to return to Viet Nam to receive medical care Not once during luring his suffering did lid we ever hear anything other than Im fine Cine dont don't worry about me mc God is with me Ill I'll make it home ok Greg was a fine young man dependable easy going respected and loved by all who knew him lie served his country well swell having rec received ved the National Defense Service Medal 1 two Commendation Medals 1 the Bronze Star Combat Infantry Badge Viet Vit Nam Campaign Medal ledal Viet Vict Nam Service Medal 1 two overseas bars Marksman 1 M hf 14 and had graduated from Academy while serving in Germany lie He received an honorable discharge September 5 1972 We dont don't know how we can thank all of you OU for the tile love and kindness shown our family There was a constant stream o of food being bing brought into our home and people came by the hundreds We have been offered the use of cars entire trailer lots motel rooms and everything they had to give We have received cards phone calls ca and letters leUrs from across the nation How flow won wonderful erCul people have been Although we have personally sent some thank you OU cards we e know we cannot reach everyone deserving a thank you OU We want you Oll all to know we sc appreciate every act of kindness Our thanks to Bishop Don Walker of Vernal Ward and everyone who participated in or helped with wilh the funeral funeral funeral fune fune- ral in any way We appreciate the Relief Society for helping with the flowers Clowers and food and the tile American Legion for the Military 1 Service The flowers Clowers were beautiful and the people who took time to come from near and md far will never be forgotten A special thank you to Gregs Greg's dear friend Dennis Montgomery 1 who spoke at the funeral although it ft was an impossible task for him We will never forget how he told of oC his love for Greg and the friendship they had known Thanks to Mrs Irs L L.
