Show Browns Brown's Park By Merelene Folks Residents Participate In Fish Project November 16 10 the Browns Brown's Park school schoolchildren schoolchildren children and local residents participated in the ett spawning activities activities s tl eGer man trout The spawning act activities were conducted by the Utah Division of Wildlife Wildlife Wildlife Wild Wild- life Resources personnel at the newly developed fish trap on the Browns Brown's Park Waterfowl Management Area Approximately Approximately Approximately eggs were stripped out and removed to the White Rocks Fish Hatchery for hatching The hatched eggs will be planted throughout the region re re- gion BROWN TROUT eggs are becoming hard to obtain from commercial es Taking eggs from this wild semi-wild population population pop pop- will help the division in getting the needed trout eggs at a minimal cost to the sportsman The new pawning station is part of an experiment dealing with the predator- predator prey relationships between the German brown trout and the Utah chub The chub has become an important trash fish in the Flaming Gorge Reservoir and this study was set up to see if the browns brown's will control the chub populations in addition to supplying eggs Also as part of the study studies are being con conn conducted conducted ducted to determine if the trout and the chub will help in the control of algae in inthe inthe inthe the Browns Brown's Park marshes DURING THE special hunt that was held in Browns Brown's Park this year there seemed to be more illegal hunting hunt ing going on than ever before On the evening before the hunt hint opened a man manof manof manof of Salt Lake City was found to have in l his s possession one mule deer This was only one out of the many illegal happenings happenings hap hap- that went on Arlie recently returned from Rock Springs where she spent three days with her mother Mrs Tet Tet- ALEX and Dick Dickerson Dick Dick- erson ersen motored to Riverton then to Fort Collins on business Mr and Mrs Dick Dickerson made a short trip to Colorado Springs where they attended a State school board meeting From there they went to Denver where they both had doctor appoint meats ments THE MONTHLY Ladies club was held November 14 at the home of Arlie There were 13 members present and one guest New officers were elected and are arc as follows Jean Lowry president Joy Leonard vice president and Sharon Ross secretary Ann Ducey was again put in as trea surer The ladies enjoyed a pot luck dinner din ner ncr and discussed the Christmas party which is to be held December 22 Mr and Mrs Bill Dill Allen spent Thanks Thanks- giving Riving with a son and law in Mr and nd Mrs Bobby Allen Also present was their youngest daughter daue Diana and husband Mike along with Mr and Mrs Clyde Thompson and children of Vernal THE HEROLD enjoyed the holidays entertaining their children and families Mr and Mrs Don Over Over- meyer and children of Steamboat Springs and Mr II and Mrs Jack Leonard and family Mr II and Mrs 1 Lynn Bower Dower a granddaughter from Craig also enjoyed the day eating turkey Fray Baker Daker and son son Charles of ot Lummi Island Washington returned to the Park after 40 years They were hero here as visitors and spent their time at the home of Mr and Mrs Duward Camp Camp- bell hell Mr and Mrs Rodger Lowry recently returned from Layton where they were visiting relatives While Whig there they did some pheasant hunting and Christmas Christ Christ- mas shopping Mr and Mrs Nell Neil Folks and children were guests of ot Mr Folks' Folks parents Mr and Mrs Robert M Marshall arsh ail of Randlett |
