Show Spring Begins s Early For Ft Duchesne School Pre-School Children FORT DUCHESNE Although spring doesn't officially arrive until next week it is here for 33 pre preschoolers at Fort Duchesne THE CHILDREN enrolled at the Fort Duchesne Head Start Center enjoyed their first outing of the spring last week They toured the Museum of Natural His History History tory in Vernal ate lunch at the Vernal City Park and watched workmen cut down a large tree Quite a thrill if you are three four or five years old stated one of the teachers The next day they froze ice cream in two hand-crank hand ice cream freezers and had an ice cream party each child taking taking tak tak- ing his turn at the crank PARENTS WHO joined in the fun included included in in- Mrs Dale Payton Mrs Billy Ray Boyd Mrs Gary Glover and Mrs Ted McBride The Center is part of the Uintah and Ouray Reservation Head Start Program Teachers are Ted McBride and Delores Allred head teachers assisted by Mary and Geneva THE CHILDREN received throat cultures cultures cul tures last week by Public Health Nurse Ora Marstella and Head Start Nurse Mary Matthews The staff is attending nutrition classes being conducted by Mary Boender They meet at the Fort Duchesne Community building and have cooking sessions at West Junior High School Their culinary skill now includes of every variety COMPLETED LAST week by staff members was the education course Education for the Disadvantaged Child which was taught by Dr Dale LaFever of Utah State University |
