Show Sixth Grade Competes In Field Day On LAPOINT-On April 22 the Lapoint Sixth grade traveled to West Junior nigh to participate in an invitational track meet I The first event the boys en en- en entered was a softball game They played Todd for the first game and won with a score of 21 to 4 While their game was being played Whiterocks played the theother theother other Todd team on the other diamond and won after r many innings of hard play The last game was played between La La- La Lapoint point and Whiterocks for the championship For a while it was a close game but Lapoint finally pulled ahead and won with a score of 7 to 2 The boys who brought the team to victory were Randy Huber Lewis Horrocks Greg Mecham Gary Winn Fred Re- Re Reber Reber ber Carlos lorg Iorg Aaron Daniels William Taylor and Danny Santio Substitutes were Brent Young and Doyle Doye Angus The next event the boys en en- en entered was the high jumping The boys had a practice jump at three feet 6 inches before the event began After many jumps Brent Young won first place with a jump of four feet 2 inches Lewis Horrocks placed ed second and William Taylor third After the high jumping the boys entered the running broad jump Fred Reber placed first firstin firstin in this event The first event in the races of the day was the yard SO-yard dash Whiterocks Todd and Lapoint competed Lapoint came out on top with Greg Mecham and Fred Reber placing first Gary Winn placed second and Doyle Angus placed third The next race was as the yard 75 dash Aaron Daniels placed first firstin firstin in this event and Gary Winn placed third In the yard dash Lewis i Horrocks and Fred Reber came in first Aaron Daniels sec sec- second second ond ond and Doyle Angus and Ran Ran- Randy dy Huber third The yard dash and the yard rela relay were discontinued because of the wind and cold The boys returned to West Weston Weston on Wednesday afternoon to fin fin- finish ish these events In the yard dash Lewis Horrocks won first Fred Reber second and Aar Aaron n Daniels third In the ilie yard relay Lapoint and Todd tied for first place honors In the shot put contest Randy Huber placed second William Taylor placed third and Danny Santio placed fourth Students were coached and accompanied by their teacher Mrs Georgia Thompson |
