Show R tI k f ELAINE JENKINS home economics More T Teachers Introduced The following is another in a series of articles introducing new teachers in the Uintah County School District New teachers this week all teach at Ashley Valley Junior High and are Elaine Jenkins Arlene Shepherd Garth B Ras Ras- mussen Rulon Ewell and Ken Ken- Kenneth neth L MISS JENKINS Is a home economics teacher and is not married She attended Uintah High School from 1956 to 1959 Brigham Young University and the Church College of Hawaii She received her bachelor of science degree and general secondary school certificate from BYU Organizations she belongs to are National Home Economics Club and the Dramatic Arts I Association She has performed student teaching at Dragerton Utah under the direction of Mrs Evelyn Varner Miss Jenkins toured the Haw Haw- Hawaiian Islands and studied there therein therein in 1961 and 1962 has worked as a unit leader and assisted in the educational program for forthe forthe the Ute Indians and has done free social work at the State Mental hospital at Provo She is an active member of the Church and at present is the Ashley Stake speech director MISS SHEPHERD who is single teaches art She attend attend- attended ed Provo High School and was wason wason on the honor society won a first place in a safety poster contest belonged to the Thes Thes- Thes Thespian pian Club and served on corn com committees for assemblies dances and programs She received her herBS herBS BS degree at Brigham Young University She has traveled in all wes wes wes- western tern states many of the east east- eastern ern states Canada and Alaska Miss Shepherd has taught Sunday School and Primary mary classes for about four years MR who also is single is an English teacher lie attended the Spanish Fork High School and was editor of the school paper lie attended e i ARLENE SHEPHERD teaches art Brigham Young University and was a member of the male chorus and the oratorio choir lie Ile received his BS degree at BYU with a major majol in psychology and a minor in English lie He served a year two mission to the Central States and has worked in Fort Dodge Iowa Grand Island and Hastings Ne Ne- Ne Nebraska braska Topeka Kansas and Kansas City Missouri MR EWELL teaches social studies U S History and World geography lie is married to Virginia Drollinger and both are natives of Payson Utah They have one son Mrs Ewell is a licensed practical nurse Mr Ewell attended Payson High School lettering in basket ball and baseball and Snow Col Col- Col College lege at Ephraim where he reo re- received his associate of science degree and Utah State University University sity at Logan and received his bachelor of science degree last June HIS TEACHING experience has been at Payson Junior High School where he taught Ameri Ameri- American can history Utah history and remedial reading MR is a math teacher He is married to Rae Petersen of Field Field- Fielding Fielding ing Utah She recently received her BS degree from the University University sity of Nebraska with a major majorin in secondary education English and a minor in library science They have seven children Mr graduated from Uintah High School in 1939 attended utah State Univ- Univ University University where he received his DS BS degree and has taken courses from Oklahoma State University University sity San Francisco State and the University of Maryland He received a major In education from the University of Nebraska Nebraska ka Mr has taught at atthe atthe the University of Oklahoma Army ROTC Corps of Engin- Engin Engineers Engineers the University of Nebraskan kas kan Army ROTC Branch Dranch Gener- Gener General General al Eagle High School Eagle Nebraska and am Everett Jr High Lincoln Nebraska lie has served 20 years in the Army's Corps of Engineers with stations in many of the states and several overseas assign assign- assignments assignments ments v H HKENNETH KENNETH L English teacher t iI Garth B Ras Rulon Ewell mussen math teaches soc soc soc- teacher lal ial studIes |
