Show National PTA Worried Over Sex Violence At its convention in que N M last week the Nation Nation- National al Congress of Parents and Tea Tea- Teachers chers expressed alarm about the current trend of n t tto tto to sex and violence THE ACTUAL wording was the current excessive preoccupation pation of magazines books mo mo- tion pictures and television pro pro- programs grams with sex crime and vio vio- violence lence There were more than 2000 de de- de delegates legates at the annual conven- conven convention convention tion The report said that the trend is contributing to the rising rate of juvenile crime illegitimate births and venereal disease to the increased use of narcotics and alcohol and to disrespect for law and other attitudes that contribute to moral breakdown THE DELEGATES said they hold producers and distributors of what they called debased and ethically unsound mas m a s s communications morally responsible sible for the effects of their pro pro- ducts products in weakening the moral m o ral fiber of the nation PTA officials also urged Its i t s 12 million members g through local and state bran bran- branches ches to support federal s tat t a t e and community action to as as- as assure sure all citizens full and equal opportunities for the exercise of their civil rights fights and lilies Also urged was greater con con- control of the sale of pep pills and other kinds of stimulants |
