Show rigid traffic law enforcement urged by council the utah safety council to day called upon judges and jus tire of the peace to keep in min mind the objectives of the traffic court conferences held last winter this request was prompted by a survey of traffic conviction reports received by the drivers license division of the utah department of public safety during june analysis of these reports reveal that while many of the convictions are fairly consistent with the schedule agreed upon at the conference others are not in some cases the variance of traffic tines fines is extremely wide and thereby fall tall completely to carry out the intent of the minimum lurn schedule developed at the co court ayt conferences the safety council emphasized that the court con conference arence schedule and objectives represents re re the mutual agreement of the judges end and enforcement of fibers themselves and not the arbitrary recommendation recommendations of the safety council one important purpose of the schedule is to discourage traffic law violations and their repetition by convicted offer offenders idem however the safety council study indicated that the minimum penalty la is not being invoked in many instances such practices the safety council declared ere are defeating the purpose of the court conference plan this approach Is hardly consistent sis si with the expressions heard at the traffic court conference that we dont want went the offenders money wo we want him to drive safely and obey the laws 11 t declared J W robinson safety council president antil until the
