Show djltori 40 planned plaimed claimed recreation WI E vioo aioo loto in these columns throo three weeks ago about the need for more playgrounds for children in this city we also believe belipve that adults as well as children need to 49 play 11 in this latter respect it is very encouraging to note that a recreation committee newly formed within vernal chamber of commerce lias has como forward with a practical blueprint for planned recreation in uintah county this widely embracing plan would organize a uintah county recreational board composed of city county and educational officials and civic club representatives the program would bo be directly supervised by a full time paid director in addition to the usual outdoor out door activities for all ages ranging from baseball to horseshoes crafts and classes would bo be organized maintenance and repair of courts and ball parks would como come under the jurisdiction of the board also although as the committee realizes changes in the original plans may bo be necessary from time to time the proposed program is practical comprehensive and shows a good knowledge of local conditions and needs we recommend it for everyones consideration when our young people return from college towns and campus life they find the old hometown home town a little quiet and sometimes the activities of the larger cities lure them to establish their own homes elsewhere perhaps a few more recreational activities here would prevent that emigration and we would be able to keep the community leaders of tomorrow it would do our overworked over worked farmers livestock raisers and businessmen good too to get away from the grindstone for awhile and join in a few rounds of horseshoe pitching with their friends theywouiago they would go lack back to work all the more refreshed and be able to do better jobs |
