all the way through ending with the score 16 8 although the boys lost they played an excellent ga game meland and showed good sportsmanship friday january 29 alter ra school was invaded by students from ashley valley jr high the students presented us with a program beginning with a short play entitled billies Dil lles first date next came a piano solo dan cing 2 numbers two readings and a girls chorus sing ing three dells bells their boys challenged our boys with a very exciting basketball game ending with the score in their favor after lunch the girls played a game of volley ball this too was exciting the alter ra girls proved to be the best on feb 4 students from mr pikes band and chorus classes enjoyed a day at alta mont high getting ready for a music festival held in the evening most of the day was spent in rehearsing after lunch a matinee dance was held in the high school and a free show was held at the same time in the altamont theater the music festival was held in the school gym at 7 JO 10 p m there was over stu dents participated in tire the band and over in the chorus TRAVELING WITH ETTA PACE by bryl beryl markley on january 27 mrs searle brought a program from the international farm youth ex change the ile program was pre 8 dented by etta pace who spent five months in norway she showed slides on the customs of the norwegian people the people have five meals a day at which their basic diet is meat cheese bread and milk most of their machinery is imported from america but many of the people work by hand girls that take home making classes spend some of rosemary cuch the second grade has been learning to care for their teeth the teacher made a big chart the second grade saw a show about utah and pueblo indians nancy and aldora duncan we saw a film on alaska it was very good the th second grade grad class ladawn kitchen has amov ed to springville Spring ville utah we are sorry she moved away we will miss her she wrote us a letter we are going to answer her the second grade class we are making a large booklet on the national parks of our country we listen to the standard broadcast then we talk about it we draw pictures we are learning bout
