Show FOR BREACH OF THE PEACE J D coldon caldon consulting mining alining engineer of denver had I 1 rouble with city scavenger J D caldon a consulting mining engineer of denver was fined 10 in judge Nob Neb ekers court last wednesday for breach of the peace mr caldon who is ia en route overland from denver to points in utah and nevada reached here tuesday night in company with his son and another party whose name was not learned ile he made inquiries as to a good place to camp for the night and was directed to the city lot north of the vernal ward house where tho the bell house stands there he pitched his hia camp and tied his horses david the city scavenger and sprinkler was soon awai e of ta e presence of mr caldon and party and then the trouble began which resulted in the arrest of caldon swore to the charge of breach of the peace and on that charge caldon was tried and fined ile he claimed that struck one of his horses borses over the head with a club and that for that reason he ha swore at and shook his hia fist in his hia face tho the man who was with caldon did not see hit the horse but said he heard the blow denied that he hit the horse and proved by some theodois Theodo The ic men who were camping nar near by that he did not hit the horse the affair created quite a commotion in the city for awhile but it soon dud out and caldon left for the west it is said that he claimed in his conversations on the ets that lie represents the moffat road and that he ha is making this thie trip through the country for the purpose of securing information for the at people in anav answer er to a question on the witness stand during the trial he be stated that he is not cor necked with the moffat road at any rate lie is ia well posted on railroad affairs in general and the affairs of the moffat road in particular and I ie he e gave out some encouraging information if it can be relied upon he carried with him a number of letters of introduction from well known men in colorado he says that mr david II if moffat is now in london forthe for tho purpose of raising money to push the road on to salt lake and that from m what hat I 1 e could learn there is every reason to believe that the money will be raised in the near future the gould int interests crests declares mr caldon are fighting moffat maffat with just as much bitter bitterness neEs as en er r and if they can prevent the completion of the road they will do it thare are now more than 2000 men at work on the road in colorado and if mr air succeeds in securing additional funo that number will be increased to 60 50 or more and the work of will be hurried |
