bodied that it weighs twelve and onelia one half lf pounds to the gallon the color la Is usually what Is known to the trade as I 1 water uliter white and the flavor Is superior to that of the much praised white clover honey of the eastern states in pi bof of the superiority of our honey xe we again call attention to the fact that at the annual convention of the dee bee keepers association cia tion held at denver in 1902 samples of honey from vernal was pro bouncel by the noted honey experts at that notable gathering to be the best honey on exhibition on that occasion this means that when our honey was mas exhibited side by side bide with noth the best of that article produced in all other parts of the united states as well as canada and mexico vernal honey was anns awarded first prize we are therefore afore able to boast of at I 1 least aas t one article superior to anything of 0 its kind pio ducal la in the western hemisphere again irver the article we pro duco Is sold bold it li Is its own best beat advertisement ti A few years yearb ago lioney honey from ono one ot of our leading apiaries found its ha way through the channels of trade to hamburg in distant germany the dealer the host best he be had ever used should any one doubt that c e actually have the finest honey in america we only ask such a person to simply sample our honey and be convinced the proof of the pudding d la Is in the eating enough said as aa to qualitz uintah county lee bee kepers keepers hold some boine remarkable remar hable records A year or two ago a single colony of bees at the bee farm of 0 1 L A pike situated near the castein boundary of the uintah indian reservation produced over pounds of honey in one season and during the past bummer 1907 one colony of bees together with the swarms from it at the apiary of G W Vang rendy gave a united product of 1000 pounds of honey the picture of oe an apiary shown in this issue Is reproduced from a photograph taken in the early winter of the year in ID which the following record residence of county commissioner john S hacking thoi thaine no photo was made prom from one hundred and sixty colonies in the spring together with their increase Inc rense a yield of pounds of honey was produced which is 26 tons and an ariage of over pounds per colony spring count nalle alle the area contiguous to was less lesa than acres the lowers flowers on that limited scope of country were sufficient to produce a quartee of a million pounds of honey in one season the above are the best we me have made since the year in which our bees produced pounds of honey we have had several poor seasons and one in which the honey crop was an absolute failure this much we will sav hoi however ever that a yield of less than pounds per colony Is considered a very poor lione hone crop in this locality most bee keepers consider trio the ash asaf ley overstocked over stocked at pr present eBent but when the reservation country has been settled long enough to give us a few largo large alfalfa fields there will be room for a number of large bee ranches and at present there are enough bees in vernal and vicinity to stock the new cu country as faba as aa new bee range Is developed N so far the bees in this section of country have been almost entirely free from disease william powell of union enjoys the distinction of being the first man tu to import bees into
