Show STATE PROCLAIMS FIR1 SEASON According to a statement received re-ceived from County Firewarden John W. Clay, Chief Forester-Firewarden Forester-Firewarden J. Whitney Floyd has proclaimed a closed fire season sea-son for the state of Utah which was effective June 1. Chief Clay added that the closed season would continue in effect through October. Even though the winter provided pro-vided Utah watersheds with a-bundant a-bundant snow, recent high temperatures temp-eratures and drying winds are contributing to a growing fire hazard, especially along the low altitude faces. The closed season, as provided by Utah law, has proven successful in past years as a means of lessening the danger dan-ger on Utah's valuable watershed, water-shed, forest, and range lands, and has again been deemed necessary neces-sary by the chief forester-firewarden. The closed season entails the securing of a permit to burn any inflammable material on any forest land, brush land, grass or range land, grain, stubble or hay land. It is the duty of Chief Clay as county firewarden, to issue burning permits when and if conditions are favorable, and he sincerely solicits the cooperation of all residents of this county in preventing destructive wild fires. o |
