Show In The Good Old Days 30 YEARS AGO Jan. 15, 1953 For the 26th consecutive year, Uintah High School has been accredited with the Northwest Association of Secondary and Higher Schools, according to Max Abbott who received the current accreditation certificate this week. The school was first accredited in 1927 when Robert L. Pixton was principal, four years after its organization date in 1923. For many years Uintah was the only accredited high school in eastern Utah. Local establishments and citizens who have spent well over a million dollars in erecting new buildings, homes and remodeling and improving present structures, struc-tures, were commended by the Vernal Chamber of Commerce in an open letter printed herewith. The building activity reflects a wholesome outlook on the future of our growing community. The buildings have been fine, permanent structures and lend an atmosphere of prosperity and progressiveness to our city ci-ty and county. As the March of Dimes drive in Uintah Uin-tah County continues into its second full week, Chairmen Alvin Bowden and Vida Sheperd called upon residents of this area to step up the pace in the fight against polio. A storm which moved over Northern Utah Tuesday night had left 3. inches of snow in Vernal Thursday morning. With the end of the storm came a high low temperature of 21' below zero. 50 YEARS AGO Jan. 19, 1933 Classes in adult education will be held at the Uintah High School, commencing Monday, according to an announcement made by Principal L. G. Noble. Classes will be held each Monday and Wednesay night, commencing at 7:30. Any adult desiring this special instruction may receive them free of charge. The members of the faculty, scheduled to give instruction, are donating their services ser-vices for the course. The clothing, consisting of cloth for different dif-ferent kinds of garments, hosiery, children's garments, overalls, under garments, etc., received from the National Na-tional Red Cross by the Uintah Chapter, after several strenuous meetings la? week, have been distributed, accordj-to accordj-to Glen Miller, county Red Cfc chairman.
