Show Student teachers return to BYU KnyU'iu' Jonson and Suo Ilaslnni, stiutcnt tfiu'lu'rs at Naples and Discovt-ry Schools, will bo returning to the HVll campus at Provo to resume their studies. Kaylene is from Hichlnnd, Wash., and Sue hails from Delta Junction, Alaska. The teachers have been living at the Hlanehe Smith home while in Vernal. Some very special guests at the Viola Caldwell home recently were her son, Markel and his wife, Nadin, of Provo. Market is a carpenter in the building of schools and church buildings; however, lie is still recuperating from back surgery he had in January of this year. A family assembly was held with all of his kin living Ik-re in the Basin. I-ist Sunday afternoon an open house was held for Klder Kenny Kichens at the Merlin Richens home. There were guests from Provo, Ogden, Salt Lake City and North Dakota and the Basin. Ileentered the Mission Training Center in Provo on Wednesday. Robert and Monta Rae Siddoway took her mom, Viola Caldwell, into Salt Lake City last week for a doctor's appointment. While there they visited and stayed overnight with Christine Caldwell Smallwood in West Valley City. Christine is Viola's youngest. Viola came home with a good report from her doctors on her health. Another new home coming up is that of Steve and Cathy Bowden at 2288 West 500 North. Cathy and Steve have three small children. We have a new family in the new Painted Hills Estates at 1500 North 4500 West 'Coal Mine Basin). They are Dan and La Riena Sullivan and they have two children. John 12 and Jenni, 7. Dan works for Northwest Pipeline Corp. LnKicna works at the Vernal Junior High in the pass room as an assistant. Thev moved to Vernal from Salt Lake City. Another new family is Randy and Wanda Smith, they have three children, Jennifer, 12. Brandee Jo, 7 and Steven Randy Jr. ill J.I 4 Randy works for Intermountain Peterbilt Trucks. Wanda is an Avon Lady. They live at 3150 West 200 North next door to Garth and Olive At w ood Three young men stopped by to visit Floise and Johnny Parker this past week. They were her brother. Howard Allen and his grandson, Rodney Allen, another brother of Eloise's. Myron and Helen Hacking were by on Wednesday. Some very distinctive visitors at the Wallace Caldwell home last week were his daughter. Barta and her husband, Don Shaffer, of Logan. The Shaffers run a bakery in Logan. Mrs. Maxine Protozman died Feb. 6 of an apparent heart attack. She is survived by her husband, Paul, a son, Grand, both of Ogden, and a daughter, Mrs. Merlin (Kay) Richens of Vernal. She was preceded in death by a son and two infant daughters. She has six grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the North Ogden LDS 6th Ward Feb. 11, 1982. Burial was in the Altorest Cemetery in Ogden. The new Relief Society officers for the four wards of Maeser are: Maeser First-president, Barcy Hatch; 1st Counselor, Janise Nelson; 2nd Counselor, Coun-selor, Diane Vernon; secretary, Lynn Evans. Maeser Second-president, Ray ma Hatch; 1st Counselor, Lois Bennion, 2nd Counselor, Echo Allen, secretary, Kay Stewart. Maeser Third-President, Third-President, Hughla Mock; 1st Counselor, Coun-selor, Kathy Alexander, 2nd Counselor, Elva Searle, secretary, Shiril Christofferson. Maeser Fourth-President, Fourth-President, JaNae Morrison; 1st Counselor, Ilene Ethington, 2nd Counselor, Elaine Peterson; secretary, Edna Vernon. New Parent and Teachers Association officers for Maeser School are: President, Phylis Hamilton, president elect, Pamelia Bowden, legislate vice president, Mary Sroose, treasurer, Marsha Searle, secretary, Linda Cady, teacher vice president, Janice Dickson. The Utah State PTA has chosen the month of March as the month to "Be a better Parent." At the March 25 PTA meeting, Donna Massey will present the program on how to be a more effective ef-fective parent. Ruth Stevenson was in charge of a recent Reflection Contest whose purpose pur-pose was to introduce the students to the arts. Another project she headed . was for each student to write a story or a song about "Wrhat makes me smile." The winners were honored on March 2 at a special awards program at the school. Last week Uintah County Nurse Marilyn Thacker and Mrs. Richard Jolley were at the Maeser School to teach the students the correct way to brush their teeth. Each student received a new toothbrush. I |
