A prop-am consisted of the eight daughters of Orvel and Relva singing "The Rose". They were accompanied by their brother, Layne. Weldon Potter Rave a reading he had written In honor of his parents. Jacob and Arien Brandt recited a poem that had been written in honor of the fiftieth anniversary. Wendi I-ong sang and played her guitar. Carina McDowel sang a song she had written for the occasion. Glenda Bobek introduced the family members and gave an update on each. The couple's children presented them gifts include a quilt with matching pillow that had pictures of the ten children, their families, the grandparents, and the Salt Lake Temple. Refreshments were enjoyed by all with a three tiered cake which had been decorated by Gail Despain. The hall was decorated in gold and green by Carol Erickson with glittered letters which read "50 Golden Years". Enid Ferraud photographed the event. Orvel and Relva have 10 children, 30 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. Besides friends from Manila, Mrs. Potter's mother Mrs. Chloa Slaugh and numerous friends and relatives from out-of-town came Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kment of Riverdale were in Manila this weekend. Mrs. Kment is the former Barbara Gregory Elliot who taught at the Manila High School a number of years ago. Mrs. Don Briggs who attended the Briggs Reunion this weekend did not return to Montana with her family, but went to Brigham City to spend some time with her mother, Mrs. Cliff Christensen who was recently released from the hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Kelley Iverson and children of Cokeville, Wyoming spent several days with Kelly's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Iverson, last week. Keith and Lawona Anderson and children of Seal Beach, California are spending their vacation at the home of Mrs. Anderson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Briggs, Sr. The John C. Anderson reunion was held at the Clair Terry cabin at the Flaming Gorge Pines on the Ashley Forest on Saturday and Sunday, July 3, and 4. The Keith Andersons who are visiting Mrs. Anderson's parents' attended the reunion. Mrs. Duane 'Bonnie' Youngberg and her children visited with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Robert Briggs while here for the Brigg's Reunion. Mrs. Robert Gerber and Ruby Atkins of Logan , are visiting with Mr. and Mrs. James. Visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Briggs are Dale's nieces, Tricia and Cindy Briggs, of Ft. Collins, Colorado. Manila had a new high temperature last week when it reached 88 degrees above zero on June 28. This is the coolest as well driest June for sometime. For the month of June the precipitation totaled .42 of an inch. The Manila LDS Ward is planning a primary parade for Pioneer Day on Saturday, July 24. The floats are to be done by the families. There were a great many people in the area during the Independence Day weekend. People were enjoying family reunions, boating, river running, water skiing, tubing, fishing, sightseeing, and just visiting. An estimated total by Forest Service was 40,000 people for the entire mountain and recreational area. Art Robinson and children Samantha and Tommy were in the Manila area Saturday and took Art's parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Robinson boating. The children enjoyed some tubing and the men a litttle fishing. |
