Show Mercenaries will hang for failure Four mercenaries were sentenced to hang and an other was given to overthrow the socialist government of the Seychelles Islands 1,300 miles off the east African coast. The four sentenced to hang pleaded guilty to treason, the only crime punishable by death in the group of 92 islands. Diplomatic sources predicted that the president the mercenaries tried to kill in November would commute the sentences to life imprisonment. Two of the defendants came from South Africa, one from Britain and another from Zimbabwe, while the fifth held dual British - Aimbabwe citizenship. |
