Show High School News Bv Teresa Siniili The Harvest Ball which is sponsored annually by the FFA, was last Friday at Uintah. A queen contest was held in conjunction with the dance. The candidates can-didates were judged in a number of ways, such as: driving a tractor, judging sheep, saddling a horse and talent. This year's royalty for harvest is Kalene Hansen, queen; Johnna Wiseman, first attendant; and Staci Wardle, second attendant. Students at Uintah enjoyed an excellent ex-cellent performance by the Springville Hi's, in an assembly Monday. The Hi's consisting of 22 singers and a 10-member 10-member backup group, are on a tour of Utah and Wyoming. After staying the night here, with members of the Uintah Hi-Lites, they traveled on to Rock Springs and Green River. At the assembly the group performed such numbers as "Happy Together," "Don't Cry Out Loud," and "Almost Like a Song." "See How They Run," a comedy about a mix-up at a Parish house, was presented Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Monday for the community by the Uintah drama department. It was an excellent production and Mr. Bill Caldwell felt that it was "the best play of its kind in many years." Becky Cochran was the director, with Teri Kurtz, Russell Griffin, Rae Dawn Olbert and Donny Sawyer in leading roles. The wrestling team got their season underway with the Wrestle Offs last Saturday. Some of the varsity wrestlers are David Gentry, Randy Smuin, Darrin Bailey, and Don Bohrer. Their first match was Wednesday at Pleasant Grove. The boys' basketball team started their season Wednesday night when they played Union at Union. The team is young, with only three seniors, but much is expected from them this year. The girls' basketball team will start their year with a tournament at Uintah this Friday and Saturday. Games begin at 11 a.m. Friday. This year's team is an experienced one, only losing one senior from last year's team. |
