Show Group meets to set student policies at VJHS A group of over 100 parents and concerned citizens gathered Thursday of last week at the Golden Age Center to discuss the problems that have developed over a period of time at the Vernal Junior High School. Dr. John Childs, who will be the principal at the Junior High next year was in attandance. Dr. Childs voiced his concern and desire to make the Junior High a school to be proud of. Problems discussed at the meeting included basic lack of discipline and the inability to enforce it. Some of the problem areas discussed were: smoking, drinking, drug abuse, fighting, vandalism, improper language, graffiti, harassment of students and teachers, dress code, bus problems and truancy. The purpose and goal of the meeting was to show support and concern for our students, teachers and administrators ad-ministrators according to Court Anderson An-derson spokesman for the group. The future goal is to help make Vernal Junior High a better, safer school. It is hoped that more parent involvement in-volvement can help change and enforce the policies needed. For those concerned, con-cerned, future meetings will be advertised, ad-vertised, Anderson said. |
