Show Local students are awarded national honor Rev. David L. Bahn, Pastor of Our Saviour Lutheran Church announced today that two of their students have been inducted into the Society of Distinguished American High School Students. Students awarded this honor include: Mark Mobley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Mobley of Vernal and Debbie Lindberg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Lindberg of Roosevelt. The Society, one of the nation's foremost high school honoraries, tapped these students because of their demonstrated excellence in scholastic leadership and civic achievement. Onl2 percent of all the students in the United States are accepted for membership. mem-bership. Nominations can only be made through the student's school or church. The Society's National Awards Program is sponsored by over ninety colleges and universities throughout the United States. Thousands of dollars in scholarship funds from these institutions in-stitutions are earmarked for Society members each year. The students' sponsor, Pastor David Bahn, received a National Appreciation Award from the Society on behalf of the students for the interest shown in honoring and rewarding excellence on the secondary school level. The purpose of the Society is to promote both academic and civic achievement by recognizing students in its membership registry, which is published annually and distributed throughout the United States and parts of Europe. |
