Oanvah so bavvle Spairfiaras The Uintah Utes will have region encounters en-counters on the road, Thursday at 4 p.m. against Murray and Thursday, October Oc-tober 23 against Jordan at 4 p.m. Judge Memorial is in first place in Region 7 at 3-0 and Murray and Cyprus are tied for second place at 2-1. Jordan and Uintah are tied for fourth place at 1-2 and .Tooele is in sixth place at 0-3. Judge Memorial has scored 61 points and has had 22 points scored against them in three region games. Cyprus scored 57 points and has allowed 30 counters. Murray has scored 40 points and has had 27 points scored against them. Uintah has scored 33 points and has allowed 49 points. Jordan has scored 31 points and has had 48 points scored against them. Tooele has scored 16 points and has allowed 49 counters. The Murray Spartans defeated Cyprus, 15-8, but the Pirate crew was' without its number one runner, Gilbert Vasquez, for the October 3 game. The Spartan defense forced four Cyprus turnovers. tur-novers. Junior quarterback, Brent Hilton scored Murray's first touchdown on a one yard run. An interception by Craig Donaldson, runs by Tony Peterson, Abe Griffiths and a pass to Chris ElJett set up the touchdown. Murray scored a two-point conversion to take an 8-0 lead. Dennis Rupp scored a touchdown for Cyprus on a six yard run and hit Randy Wooley on a pass for a two-point conversion, con-version, which tied up the game at 6-6. Murray scored the winning touchdown on a 13 yard pass from Hilton to John Durfey. Ron Moody added add-ed the extra point to make the score 15 to 8. Uintah was toppled by Judge Memorial on October 3 by the score of 21 to 8. The Utes grabbed an 8-7 lead on a touchdown and a two-point conversion by Dave Emery. However, Judge overcame over-came the Uintah lead to win the game, 21 to 8. The Utes have been going with sophomore, Pat Jenkins, as the varsity quarterback and runningbacks for the Uintah team have been Dave Emery, Mark Robb, Rick Morton and various other Utes. Uintah has defeated Union, 20-14; Green River, Wyo., 12-0 and Tooele, 12-7. Uintah has suffered losses to Lehi, 23-0; Cyprus, 21-13 and Judge Memorial, 21-8. The Utes have a record of 3-3. Runningbacks, Robb, Morton, Jenkins and Randy Smuin picked up some yardage in the game against Judge Memorial. The Utes' opponent on October 23 will be Jordan High School. The Beetdig-gers Beetdig-gers gained their first region victory when they edged Tooele, 16 to 7. Jerry Richardson scored both touchdowns in the Jordan win over Tooele. He rushed for 153 yards on 17 carries and caught three passes for 38 yards. Richardson also rushed for 135 yards in 16 carries and scored three touchdowns in a near-upset near-upset of 4-A power, Granite, October 8. Richardson was selected as the Prep of the Week by the Deseret News. Jordan's win over Tooele snapped a two and half year dry spell for the Beet-diggers. Beet-diggers.
