Show Why was nurse fired? Dear Mr. Wallis: Less than a month ago, my mother underwent a type of surgery in the Uintah County Hospital which has never been performed in Vernal before. Thanks to the expertise of one of the new doctors the superb training and care of a new Registered Nurse brought in to set up the Critical Care Unit, my mother came through with flying colors. As a family, we want the community to know how important a hospital and staff are. Since our last letter, a critical Registered Nurse shortage has surfaced. sur-faced. Mr. Perry does not think this is so, but I am gravely concerned over this situation. My reasoning is as follows: 1. Three weeks ago the hospital had a qualified Registered Nurse hired to set up and maintain the Critical Care Unit. 2. The nurses, in a written statement, stated there were not enough Registered Nurses to give quality patient care. 3. The nurses were not trained to handle the patients, like my mother, who were on the critical care list. 4. A couple of weeks ago the nurse hired for the Critical Care Unit was released of her duties and we no longer have the Critical Care Unit functioning in our new hospital. The nurses admitted there is a critical shortage of Registered Nurses. I do not understand why a highly qualified Registered Nurse, who, in my opinion, is one of the best nurses ever to come to Vernal, was released (fired) especially during this critical time. The people of this community deserve and need to demand quality patient care in our new hospital. We have the facility. We have the doctors. Now, let's demand enough well trained nurses to complete the cycle. The Family of Isabelle Johnson JOANN HARDY |
